DESCRIPTION
This was a university assignment where I was asked to develop a design brief and proposal for an augmented interactive system including a low-fidelity prototype. I have experience in the health care system and research showed that elderly patients struggle with completing their home exercise routines after their surgeries due to a number of factors, negatively impacting their ability to recover full function.
SenseTherapy is an augmented reality system that enhances home exercise programmes for elderly patients after rotator cuff surgery recovery by improving accessibility, technique, pain management, and motivation. The first part of the system is an AR glasses app which provides audio-visual instructions and real-time posture feedback. The second part of the system is a sensor which tracks shoulder movement and delivers haptic feedback in response to posture. The system gamifies the experience to motivate users, displaying progress and allowing feedback to tailor the program.
